5 Fun, Fresh & Festive Holiday Design Inspirations

It’s time again to Deck the Halls! As the holiday season draws near it’s often second nature to grab the tubs of decorations in the attic and slap your decor up in the usual places. Some of us just need a muse to get our creative wheels turning. We’ve got five ideas to help get you inspired for your holiday decorating this season.

Silver and Gold

As the Christmas carol goes, everyone wishes for silver and gold – so why not give the people what they want? It’s a classic combination and instantly evokes that festive spirit of the holidays.  Aside from just throwing tinsel on the tree, try adding some vintage or brushed silver and gold accessories around your home. Soft lighting and sparkling mercury accents offer just the right amount of seasonal charm and will look just as stunning in the New Year.

Instant Holiday Style

Adorning the house for the holidays is always fun and doesn’t have to break the bank. Adding ornaments, pinecones or winter florals to everyday bowls and vessels instantly creates holiday style. Try adding white pinecones in polished silver bowls or an ornament-filled tall vase.  Incorporate fresh winter florals like paperwhites, white amaryllis or hydrangeas throughout the house for natural beauty.

Keep it Green

Decorating with fresh greenery is the easiest way to bring a festive mood into your home. The natural greenery of a Christmas tree and garlands can make a home look (and smell) fresh and inviting. Add ribbon in a vibrant color (such as Holiday Red) and you have holiday decor that is unexpected and elegant.

Be Bright

This is the year to showcase your creativity through your holiday decor. There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the traditional red and green, but there is also no rule saying you have to. Take a break from traditional holiday schemes in favor of bright colors like neon or jewel tones. Purple, bright pink, rich turquoise and emerald green are ideal colors to base your design on. Gold, silver and various other deep, rich colors with a metallic finish combine beautifully with dark shades of purple and turquoise. For an even more whimsical look try trimming your tree with big bold ornaments.

A White Christmas

For an elegant and clean look this holiday, try an all-white decor scheme. With all the hustle and bustle of the season, white is a beautiful way to keep your home looking calm and serene.  For inspiration take note from Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” and imagine a peaceful landscape just after a snowfall. Everything is muted, dressed elegantly in cool silvery-white. Add a few hits of sparkle and shine for a little Christmas glam.
